Electric Youth profile

Electric Youth

Electric Youth

Electric Youth is a Canadian synth-pop duo from Toronto, Ontario. The duo consists of Bronwyn Griffin (vocals, songwriter) and Austin Garrick (producer, songwriter, synthesizer, drums). The two have been dating since the 8th grade and made their initial breakthrough by appearing on the song "A Real Hero" composed by College for the 2011 film Drive. The song is partly about Captain Chesley Sullenberger, who made the miraculous crash landing of Flight 1549, saving the lives of all 155 people onboard. Spin magazine named it one of the top 20 songs of 2011.

In late 2013 they signed with two record labels: Last Gang Records and Secretly Canadian.

On September 2014 the band released their debut album "Innerworld" to Canada and then the rest of the world. "Innerworld" was produced by Electric Youth with some assistance from other producers and technicians. On November 2014 the duo went on their first headlining tour of Canada and the United States.

Contrary to popular belief, they are not named after the album by pop star Debbie Gibson, rather, the name Electric Youth is a reference to their nostalgic sound.
