Off the Wall is the fifth studio album by American R&B artist Michael Jackson. It was released on August 10, 1979 and the first Jackson album under the Epic Records label. It followed his critical performance in the film The Wiz. Whilst working on The Wiz, Jackson became friends with Quincy Jones, and the two would collaborate on Off the Wall. Recording sessions occured between December 1978 and June 1979 at Allen Zentz Recording, Westlake Recording Studios, and at Cherokee Studios in Los Angeles, CA. It would also feature Paul McCartney, Rod Temperton and Stevie Wonder's seperate inputs.
The record was met with universal praise and was a departure from the bubblegum pop of Jackson's earlier works. Themes that&
